Day 1 – Calypso Snorkelling on the Outer Barrier Reef
Calypso had a snorkelling tour boat built specifically for this tour, enabling it to go where other boats simply can’t. They take you to the very best spots at the Opal and Tongue Reefs on the outer Barrier Reef and here you are treated to absolutely perfect snorkelling conditions.
Glide across the waters surface and wonder at the explosion of colour and sea life just a few metres below you. It really is magic.
The experienced Calypso crew will brief you on the snorkelling sites and help anyone who needs a hand. You essentially just need to be able to float, but the most apprehensive of swimmers can relax on a flotation device and experience the full wonders of the reef.
You will be taken to 3 of the best sites based on the prevailing conditions. All the gear you need is provided including prescriptive masks and lycra suits if required.
Depart Reef Marina at 8.45am – return at 4.15pm.
Day 2 – Mossman Gorge, Daintree River and Cape Tribulation
Daintree Tours take small groups in their Toyota Landcruisers or Mercedes Sprinters so you travel up to Mossman Gorge, the Daintree River, Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation in complete comfort, and with a driver who is also your guide to the region. This really is a day full of highlights. In fact there is not a single second in the day where you are not somewhere totally beautiful.
Starting at the very special and sacred Mossman Gorge where you walk through the rainforest canopy before floating in the pure, cool waters of the beautiful Mossman Gorge waterhole. Then on to the Daintree River where you join a cruise in search of the ancient estuarine crocodile along with tree snakes and all manner of tropical wildlife.
After crossing the river on the Daintree Ferry you enter the heart of the pristine Daintree Rainforest. You climb the Alexandra Range and then pull into the Alexandra Lookout for one of the most stunning views you will ever see. Really something.
Further on you reach Cape Tribulation, the place where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The only place in the world where two World Heritage Listed areas meet. The beaches here are pure and unspoilt and you will feel a million miles from anywhere. A very special day indeed.
