You will love the morning and afternoon teas and soak up the atmosphere as you enjoy the tropical seafood lunch aboard this luxury cat.
Board the Aquarius at the Reef Marina at 8.25am. Return at 4.00pm.
Day 2 – Daintree Tours to Daintree River, Cape Tribulation and Mossman Gorge
The Great Barrier Reef is undoubtedly one of Australia’s iconic natural wonders, but once you have experience the might of the Daintree River, the stunning beauty of Cape Tribulation deep in the Daintree Rainforest, and the very special Mossman Gorge, you will add these places to the very top of your travel experiences.
Your driver/guide picks you up at 7.20am for the first leg of the day, winding your way through the cane fields north of Port Douglas to the Daintree River. Here you will join a cruise up this ancient watercourse in search of the mighty salt water crocodile. Keep your arms inside the boat! There is plenty of beautiful wildlife to be found along the banks and narrow tributaries of the Daintree so it’s not all about the crocs.
After crossing the river on the Daintree Ferry you will enter the Daintree Rainforest proper. At over 130 million years old it is really something special. There are amazing views, beautiful beaches and lunch is served at a hidden rainforest resort. All this where the World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest meets the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Special indeed.
Make sure you try the tropical ice-cream before heading south. It’s delicious!
To finish the day you are taken to the Mossman Gorge and learn about the Kuku Yalanji people who have lived here for millennia. There is something almost spiritual about this sacred and very beautiful area. The gorge itself is picture perfect and the water as pure as can be imagined.
